Just a quick post for today, a track from a man named Chaz Jankel. Many of you will already know the work of Chaz, however may not realise it. This is because Chaz was a guitarist and keyboard player with one of my favourite all time groups Ian Dury and The Blockheads. He also co-wrote (with the late Ian Dury) most of the bands material, including the hits 'Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll', 'Hit Me With Your Rhythym Stick' and 'Spasticus Autisticus'. Following his success with the band Chaz persued a solo career, releasing a string of albums. He released '3,000,000 Synths' in 1981, and it was recently re-released on Tirk. The track has a darker vibe in comparison with much of his other material, combining heavy kick drums with a chugging bass line and a host of effects over the top sounding like alien star ships battling it out in deep space. Chaz Jankel is still performing with the Blockheads today.

And for those who will be in and around Sydney over the weekend I will be playing a set on friday night at the Oxford Art Factory from 12, so come down and I may even buy you a beer.

Then on Saturday we have the bi-annual Glebe Record Fair, doors open at 9 and I recommend getting in there early.

you know despite having that Chaz Jankel 12" for years and playing Ian Dury for even longer, I only realized Jankel was in the Blockheads, like, 3 weeks ago?

He's a bit of a quiet achiever that Chaz. I think he left the group in 1980 or so after 'Do it yourself' then came back and took a trip to jamaica to record 'Lord Upminster' with dury, sly and robbie.
